Mini American Game Breeding Project(From Scratch)(And Discussion Thread)

I was thinking the Silver Duckwing was a pullet. On at least the Old English Games, the line going from the eye to the ear determines the gender. If it only goes to the ear, then it's cockerel. If it goes past and often down and thicker, it's a pullet. I do think it does vary across breeds though because I had an EE chick where the line went past the ear and he was definitely a cockerel.
We'll definitely find out. Hoping for mostly pullets this year. I usually go by the darkness of the dorsal stripe for sexing Duckwings, which hasn't failed me yet. Females are often darker, while males lighter.

Will be attempting pictures today. They're learning my hands aren't gonna kill them. So hopefully less dramatic, & fussy this time.

My face had a moment. The Gold/Red Duckwing chick is from my pairing of Blue Face Cross, with my Red Junglefowl/Sumatra cross Hen. The chick has a Pea Comb, & a random feather tuft on the outer toe on each foot.

Okay, the black with 4 toes, I messed up on the dad too. It has lightly feathered, so that one must be from Little Dude X Red Junglefowl/Sumatra cross Hen.

I think the 5 toed black one(Clean Legs) was actually fathered by new guy now, with my Blue Face Hen.

I'm little sloppy this year as I didn't keep good track of which hatched from certain eggs. I know I had 5 eggs hatch from my Red Junglefowl/Sumatra cross Hen, & 2 from my Blue Face hatch Hen.

I know fathers, as I paired birds along the trip, & after the trip, but failed to track chicks from eggs.

So parents of each of the chicks:

New Guy X Red Junglefowl/Sumatra cross: Black with 5 Toes Chick, & Brassy Chick.

New Guy X Blue Face Hen: Silver Duckwing Chick.

Little Dude X Red Junglefowl/Sumatra cross Hen: Black with Lightly Feathered Legs, & 4 toed Chick.

Maximus X Red Junglefowl/Sumatra cross Hen: Brown Chick.

It's slight possibility that Little Dude maybe the father of both Black chicks, but I won't know unless I breed back to him since he's lavender. But there's a possibility that New Guy maybe carrying lavender too.
