mini rex bunny rabbit Show Quality????***PICS***UPDATE

Your buck shows promise, he needs to be posed better though, he doesnt have his feet correctly in position but looks like he would do well,
The Doe is very nice. color is a tad darker than I would like but if you blow into her fur there should be a nice ring of red ( rufus) colorinig.

They are both very nice animals and worth putting on the show table. Heck second or third place is no easy feat for a first time showing, but I believe you have a good shot.
If you do go to the show please be sure to post your accomplishments.

Do you know if either or both have been shown before?
If not you can always breed the doe after a few shows, general rule of thumb is to breed them before 8 months old, but a few weeks after isnt going to harm anything.
good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks yea i may breed the castor doe to another castor or to him and i may get a doe for him ill keep you guys updated on breeding or showing but there arent any shoows for a while so ill have to see what im gonna do.

I know this topic is a few months old but I wanted to add something. Some people are afraid or think it will be a waste to show a mini rex after it has had babies. We show mini rex competatively and do quite well. If the rabbit is in good show condition then by all means show it. We went to a show very close to home and it was one of our first shows of the season. Our mini rex doe had a litter of 10, 2 week old babies. I knew she was a nice rabbit but we had never shown her because she had matured during the winter when we weren't actively showing so we bred her. When I pulled her out that morning to look at her all I could say was WOW!! Needless to say she went to the show and not only did she win Best of Breed out of 87 animals but she also went on to win Best in Show. She also won BOB in the specialty show. We took her home and we did not show her again until her babies were 8 weeks old. We took her to a show 14 hours away from our home and again she won BOB out of 214 rabbits. She has been shown only 3 times and now she is granded.

Basically the animal has to speak for itself. Some animals wont bounce back but others can look just as nice as before you bred them. This doe is a broken black and our REW doe was in contention for BOB also and she is 3 years old with 4 litters under her. In fact the broken black is her daughter. The judge told us that if the Rew had been a buck she would have been best opposite.

We have shown tons of rabbits after they have had babies. Of course you can't expect to win BOB but if you do that is great and if an animal with 10 babies, which is huge for MR can go on to win BIS then certainly a rabbit who has bounced back and is in good condition can be shown.

Thats just my opinion anyway

thanks for the advice . i will give her a go at showing once she has had her litter ..i cant show her while pregnant right?im going to a show this weekend and i will put updated pics after. i really need help with posing though

They are all GORGEOUS!! I miss my Mini-Rex's. That Red Satin is a looker too! I used to breed Mini-Rex's, but never showed any. I love the color Broken Castor. I used to have one a lot like your Broken Black named "Mimzy". I miss her so, I miss them all!

I am a few weeks late here but just curious how you done at your show? the lady that won BIS with a doe that had 2 week old babies on her had one heck of a doe. That I know of they don't usually bounce back that quick but they can be shown after babies. As far as showing while pregnant. We took a doe to the state convention Saturday & Sunday & Thursday she had babies. Oops. Not a good idea to show them that close to deliver but I forgot we bred her. I can say her babies are awsome though. They have been winning BOV & BOSV most shows. They are just turning seniors now. But momma is fully retired to the brood barn. Our star of the barn is a REW buck Hopes N Dreams Thunder. He wins BOSB & BOB every time the past few shows. 5 legs in a row plus a 4H Overall Grand Champion. We can't wait to see what his kits do. Well have fun with showing. It is a blast.
