Miniature Donkey

I got him Thurs. He's a 3 year old jack, ungelded. I put him in with my billy. The billy wasn't real sure about him at first. I watched them for a couple of hours, until dark. The billy would go nowhere near the donkey.
Friday morning when I went to check on them, they were eating side by side and now seem to be big buddies. I tied the billy outside the pen for awhile today and the donkey and the billy stayed near each other the whole time. They were not happy to be seperated.
Needless to say, I'm very relieved.

No!! Do not put donkey with goats.. If they dont do it right at first it will eventually happen.. and again and again. They will try to kill them..And eventually will succeed. Just went threw it. Its terrible. They will break their neck and or legs.Donkeys best companions are equine or cattle. U cannot have anything with them of same size or smaller.

I know this is an old post but thought i would go ahead and post. ha ha
I have a mini jenny that lives with our Quarter horses/ foals/ chickens/ dwarf goats and never had a problem she kinda just free ranges around the ranch and goes where she pleases. she even likes the dogs an cats.

I have a miniature donkey that is a complete joy. He loves my horses, chickens, dogs, and my neighbor's cows and goats. Accidents can always happen. It doesn't matter what kind of livestock you have or if they are the same or different breeds. Goats can hurt each other just as easily as a donkey can hurt one of them. Its up to you what you want to try. How ever A donkey makes a great guardian for all kinds of livestock and are known to protect them from predators.

I have two mini donkeys, one is only 7 months old, and will be getting two Nigerian dwarfs at the end of the month. I would like them to be able to pasture together. Both donks were with other goats when I got them, so I'm praying they get along. I will keep them apart with a fence between them for a bit before trying it.

As you can see it depends on the donkey, if you get a young one it might work as he would grow up knowing goats. My donkeys will chase and stomp the goats if the goats get into the donkeys pasture, I have one who is half paralyzed from it. Donkeys play by biting each other's neck, they will try to play with the goats in the same manner and could easily kill them, so there's no right answer except to trend lightly and be ready for it not to work.

Donkeys do bond extremely tight with other donkeys, I would recommend two, they might get along with the goats well enough to be pastured with them but still have each other to play with.
