Miniature milk cows

Well, I email a breeder of mini jerseys. I was polite and asked a few questions. I got a one line response.

"I have a 3 year waiting list."

No thanks for interest, no response to any questions, nothing. I doubt they are all that short and to the point. But this one person pretty much turned me off to mini jersey's as I couldn't really find much more then this ONE person online who is into breeding them.

I may just get to know a few local farmers and see if I can find a runt or just a smaller cow. Maybe I will just go with goats

I am currently saving up for my zebu; did a LOT of research when I decided what I wanted & have decided on these. Plus I visitied a few farms (from Punta Gorda to Christmas, FL), seen them in person & absolutely fell in love! Cant wait. Want to eventually end up with a young, non-related breeding pair and a steer for meat.

There's a jersey breeder at chimney lake, south of williams puddle here in BC. I think it's a local call for me here in lac la hache. If you want (like are you serious?) I could phone them, or try to dredge up a url or something.

Be super-careful when buying a Dexter. They've been cross bred so much to provide better/more meat that most of them are VERY dangerous. Most are no longer the gentle cattle that they used to be; they kill other cattle, other animals, and people if they can.

Wow we have never had that happen with our Dexters or Dexter crosses! We have many breeds of both Miniature and Full size cattle and have never had cattle kill each other or other animals or people! BUT we have mostly beef or exotic breeds, which are easier going than dairy breed bulls. But we do have some jersey/holstien cross heifers and usually some mini jersey cows; Jersey bulls can get testy.
