Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere - I couldn't find it if so! A feed store down the street is selling chicks. They are getting three breeds in every weekend for the next six weeks. This weekend, there is only one breed I want, and I only wanted to buy two birds. But is two enough for them to stay warm? I have a really nice brooder with temp adjustment knob. Next weekend I would be adding four more chickens. Advice welcome! Thanks

Ah heck, just get 3. What's 1 more little chick?? LOL!

Similar situation happened here, and the feed store held the 2 breeds I wanted from that week until the next shipment came with the others. That way they all came home together on the same day, some were just a tad bigger than the others is all!

Oh and by the way, I ended up with a few extras too, I mean really, what's a few more? LOL!

Thank you both so much. I will get three, three's company after all! Last year I told my husband I wanted four and we ended up with 8, so I know there's always room for more!

But some times boys are found in the pullets so you should get 5, just to be safe. hehehehe
