Minimum Width for a Nest Box

It's in the name really...

Whats the minimum width you can have a nesting box??

I have Rhode Island Reds if that helps!!

I think "standard" is 12 inches...if I could do it again I'd go 14...

I think most people agree 12" is the min. but I made mine about 14"-15" because my pullets are Buff Orpingtons. I would say make them larger if you can for two reasons. First because they may be two hens on that nest at once and second to keep your options open for the future. If you got a larger breed in a few years you would hate to have to re-build those nest boxes again.
