Minimum width for ladder to henhouse?

I'm about to build the ladder/ramp to my henhouse. How wide must it be?

I made mine out of a 2x4 laid flat with the rungs [1"x1/2"] spaced 1 1/2" apart and around 7" wide. It's at roughly a 35 degree angle off the pop door.

They have no issue with walking up or down it.

I don't have a ladder. They just fly up,just like to their roosts. Will

The plank is 4 inches wide.

Mine temporarily has a 4X4 with strips of the same width nailed cross-wise on it. It seems a little narrow, but is working out fine, so it may stay longer than originally planned. You probably know how that kind of thing goes when building coops.
