So does fox spray or urine linger r disappear?

A lot of that has to do with wind and temp. Red fox urine can be so strong you’ll swear it’s a skunk really close. Other times it can be more mild smelling. It will definitely linger around for awhile but when it’s gone it’s gone unlike a skunk where you can still kinda smell it.

Probably picked it up as road kill. As said earlier skunks do not have many predators. The owl has no sense of smell that is why they are on that short list.

Could have been hit and died near den, it's wasn't too far from road.

I trap foxes all the time. There’s only two with the skunk smell. It’s red foxes and skunks.

I have heard this from many, MANY hunters and trappers.

That’s funny you say that. I was going to suggest something similar. My neighbors kept wondering why would they wait smelled skunk in their yard but only for a short time at a certain time of day. Turns out it was the teenage neighbor in the backyard smoking it before his mother got home

I grew many years ago. You had to be careful where you grew because the wind would give away your location to the thieves and law. As it get closer to harvest the smell becomes really strong.

Wow, I would have never thought of that but that is a good point! More than likely they would be harvesting at night, too.

just going to say it as a trapper who has dealt with weasels, mink and skunk (i mean i have skinned them for there hides) skunks smell like you know a skunk pretty bad, mink is not bad at all but weasel there scent burns its awful (my friend told me who also is a trapper that there worst then skunk smell)

You’re not supposed to hit the scent glands. Haha. Mink is just real musky smelling if you cut into the glands.
