Hi! I live in Minnesota! Just wondering the best ways to keep a small flock in summer and in the extreme cold we can get here. Some things I would like to know are feeding for summer and winter, winter feeding tips to keep my flock warm, run and coop space, how to keep the water from freezing, heating the coop? And all the other things that I must know for keeping them warm, healthy and happy in the winter and how to keep them healthy , happy and cool in the summer, I have a flock of 8 layers

Thanks! Your fellow chicken raiser Grant

Hello fellow Minnesotan! I have a flock of thirteen.

Mine have coop attached to penned area, and in the summer I have a five-gallon waterer outside and throw the feed on the ground, allowing them to free-range once in a while. In the winter, I have a whole bale of hay for bedding in the coop (only half in the summer), a heated waterer, heat lamp for when it gets really cold, and a feeder. Hope this helps!
