Minnesota!

There are different breeds of bobwhites. A friend of mine in Oklahoma has Butler Bobwhites, which are large quail and for eating. I want some for both eating and fun. I sent a message off to a group working on re-building the quail in MN, but with no response. I would happily hatch them in Spring to release if I could find a source for eggs or if I had enough to do it from my own if I were to get the native breed of them.
If you find anything out, please share. I would love to raise some for release. I believe I read somewhere though that if you have pheasants around you won't have quail and there are alot of pheasant in my area so it might not pay for me to release them. It would be interesting to raise some though.

You could raise and release pheasants then. I don't think their needs are too different. We raised them when I was a teenager to release and they seemed to survive and thrive. We released a dozen in one year and I remember hearing the males screech for many years after thay

I raised pheasants as a teenager also. There are alot in this area already, I don't think there is a need to release more. I just thought quail would be so cute and fun to watch-something different.

I live by the Long Prairie river, there is alot of brush and swamp on the other side that you can hear them in. They are not nice little field pheasants, they make you work for your supper if you want them.

The pheasant extermination fee is slightly higher for me to walk through brush to get them. Plus my one dog is 10 this year and she is kind of lazy.
