Minnesota!

You are all letting me down today.  From 6-9 am is coffee time for me.  I need more posting otherwise I am forced to watch TV and get into an even more surly mood.

It's been a busy morning at work for me, so I haven't done my part. My day job is a computer programmer so I usually have down time while my applications are loading and testing to do things like check in on BYC. Not too much to share today anyways

Sorry to hear of your losses Ralphie... I hate people like that, the 'slob hunters' who kill for no reason. What a prime example of the poor state of humanity we are in.

The sad part is hunting when done with proper attitude and respect for other hunters, land owners and prey can be a great experience for anyone. It connects us to our roots and becomes almost a religious experience. Like sending chickens to freezer camp it is a great time to reflect on life, and mortality and what sacrifice an animal makes for us to live.

When done by slobs that just want to kill something, it makes us see what is the worst in humans.

Before calling Hoovers and giving them a piece of my mind over the CX hens, I decided to check back at my order.

I found out there was a human error. This human ordered 70 hens and not straight run.... **** me!

I should call them now and compliment them on doing such a great job on sexing them. After seeing the order, I remember I had thought about ordering all hens. Confidant they would mess up on the sexing and send me a couple roosters. That may have been what I did also.

I wish I remembered what I did and why.

I'm craving chickens. Haven't had any since last fall when a fisher took them all out. I'm waiting till I can build my predator proof coop and run next spring. They were free range in a junky coop for 2 yrs with no predator problems.

Trekking thru sand burr grass with sandals working would drive me nuts, forget it if a sandal was broken. Think you have reason to be surly for the whole danged day. May it go better (maybe with a lemonade on the deck in the sun?). And I'm sorry to hear about your birds. No problem on tonight.

Alezaj, sounds like you didn't win the predator lottery - I think I went about 3 years free ranging before I had predator strikes. I look back on those days and wonder how I was so lucky! The thing about chickens is, sooner or later, a predator gets them. Inside the coop, inside the run, out free ranging, etc.

Good luck on getting a coop ready for the spring and new birds!

ok, back to work!

Is that like putting something away for safe keeping then forgetting where you put it when you need it?

That is just Murphy's Law. If you order what you want and that IS what you want, it gets screwed up. You order something in anticipation that it will be screwed up and plan for it, it will be just as it was supposed to be in the first place. SMH

So, since misery loves company...
I got fed up with overpaying Waste Management, and yes, this has nothing to do with chickens. So, last week I called them to stop service and have the dumpster picked up. I am getting the major run around. They did not pick up the dumpster. They are claiming we signed some contract with them, which I am certain we never filled out any paperwork with them, but any orders were made over the phone. I have been doing some research and found they have forged contracts to justify the excessive and ridiculous charges they slap on customers when they want to leave. I made two calls last week and my blood pressure, I am certain has been elevated with this whole deal.
I found out a company out of Cannon Falls will provide the same service for less than half the price of WM. How crazy is that?
So, I have two dumpsters in my yard, and I am contemplating what course of action to take if they don't come and get theirs. DH says he doesn't want to get a lawyer for this, but it seems that is what it takes to get them off one's back when going through this stuff. No way am I paying a bunch of money to them just so I can cancel service.

Waste management is one of the dirtiest underhanded businesses out there. They know how to play dirty and bleed your money.

I severed ties with them a while back when I lived in town. When you cancel you have to pay $40 for them to pick up the can or some large fee for not returning it. And you can't deliver it yourself either. I have also heard of them driving small local companies out of business by price fixing

I feel for you MCM... They are a major PITA

There are lots of people online who have been seeking legal counsel to deal with them. They can try putting crap on my credit report or whatever, I will pay the last month's actual pick-up, but after that they don't get a cent. I don't know how people can even work for a company that is that slimy?
