Minnesota!

Okay, so our local car wash at KT has a curse against me!
I went there today to wash the truck good before I put the topper back on and it is too cold to keep it off.
I fill my gas tank at the pump, and pay for a wash. Go around to back and get in line. I am second after a white F150. That truck pulls in and get his wash. Then, instead of pulling head to the blowers, puts it in reverse, trips the start to the wash and sits through MY wash!! I am just laughing, cuz how can something happen twice in one week in the same car wash like this? At least he didn't floor it and ram the front of my truck in. Still.... idiot.
I called inside and they gave me an upgrade to the Elite wash and I got in. The dope in front of me, gets out, looks at me, shrugs his shoulders then drives off.
I think I will stay away from that one for a while.

I did get an estimate and it is coming close to totaling, but I think I may be able to get it fixed instead.

Back to work. Pumpkins roasting, more waiting. Out to play in the wind again.

It is probably cheaper to get canned or frozen pumpkin or sweet potato. We use it for rabbits who are looking peaked or are having troubles either with gut sluggishness or low potassium after kindling. It is so full of good stuff, it is just good for a regular treat.

Folklore. Talk with any long time chicken keeper and ask them and they may laugh. Same goes for DE. It may assist in prevention, but it is not a cure.

Agreed.

Hi @sourland I have seen you around BYC. Glad to have you here!!

@Minniechickmama WOW! way to go on all your turkey stock!! And sounds like you have lots of potatoes!! Awesome!

I have begun the canning of the apple butter I had started yesterday. 2 of the 3 crocks were ready to can so far I have 13 pints. Very excited to see how it turns out.

I am taking full advantage of the weather today. Drying the clothes on the line for as long as weather permits!!!!

Well, I will be in and out today. Have a great autumn day all!!

Well Ralphie picked the right weekend to go to Togo. As some of you natives know it has been a fantastic couple of days in the Nortland. We will soon be dodging snowflakes, so these days are at a premium to be enjoyed.
Hope all have coops and chicken yards prepared for old man winter. There are sure to be some nice days ahead, but it is nice to be ready so one can enjoy other activities of autumn.
I hope that Ralphie does not do anything crazy in the woods, like run off with a female Sasquatch. Judy would be forced to care for all that fowl alone.

I'm baaaaaack

What a beautiful weekend to camp! plus we got to listen to the VIkes game on the way home. Anyone who has been to whitewater knows that it was breath taking right now with the trees changing. I recently saw that that park made #2 on a national list of 'places to see in your lifetime' or something similar. The friends we went with had never been and now we are talking about making reservations to go again in the spring together again. we have the daunting task of cleaning out the camper and winterizing now. sadly this was our last trip for the year. just too much to do around here! We spent 37 nights in our camper this year despite everything going on. DW was daydreaming about a tropical vacation this winter but we know that we need to be saving and pinching pennies to get ready for the new house. Its nice to think about though!

Sounds like i didnt miss out on too much while i was gone.

In more serious news - i let the chickens all out to free range as soon as we got home and picked eggs. I found an egg on the ground outside that had bloody streaks on it. The chickens all made a run for it when i opened their door, so i have no way to check over all the hens right now. anything i should be concerned about or look for when i put them in tonight and have a chance to try and look them over?

They might hatch before the first snowfall. But then again, it could start snowing tomorrow for all I know. What breed of Roosters do you have?

The three most energetic are a Copper Maran, Golden Wyandotte and a banty Cochin.

Since I'm just starting out ( or starting over) I picked up several breeds to explore what was a good fit.
No matter which direction I go they'll all live out their days with us.
