Minnesota!

How about some kitten photos?? I havent shown you guys how big they have grown! Thought it was worth sneaking onto the laptop for a few minutes this AM. Cockadoodledoo and good morning to all!

ohhhh, these kitties are like crack. I so want them all. Love the open mouth picture attacking the foot! They are big. Congrats on taking the little orphans on and getting them this far! Are you introducing them to the outdoors soon so they can be farm cats? or are they going to be indoor kitties?

debating chores today.  I could drive my older friend who is housebound, and my partner, who is on muscle relaxants, down to the cities to Ikea to get some bins for the storage closet.  It has 9 years of odds and ends and I can't find anything anymore.  And then I could drop off swedish meatballs at my daughters and grab that baby to hold for a minute.

Or....I could clean the house, make orange cranberry sweet bread, start the wood stove and sit by the fire.

the way that wind is howling I don't think I will do anything outside today, and it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow.

Color me jealous about having the wood stove as an option today. That would be perfect!

ok, the no snowsuit in the car. I've had that argument with my daughter.
I'm incredulous. "You mean, it is -30 below and you are putting that baby in a light weight onsie? "
Amy says, well the car will be warmed up and the carseat is in the house, so it is warm.
I say, " and when the car goes in a ditch?"

honestly. she was raised in minnesota. she knows you don't go in the car in the winter if you are leaving the metro area without storm supplies, extra boots, etc. what in the sam hill is she thinking?

Why when leaving the metro only? I have seen cars that go off the road stuck there for hours before someone could get to them. A big heavy sleeping bag that opens up to cover a couple people is a must all winter long.

With the long nights there are places you could go off a road and the car not be seen for hours.

BTW Morning Lala!! it is going to be a sunny day!

yeah the wood fire option also happens to be the best for the pockebook.

staying out of stores really does save money.

And I had some big expenses (for me) this year, putting on the porch overhang was a couple thou, and then the car (oh don't get me started on that!) ran me some big $ . And the vacation this spring, well heck, I am supposed to be on ramen noodles for a while to catch that savings account back up.

so maybe I don't need to organize the closet.

in my little house, there are only 3 closets: a bedroom closet, a hall closet, and the utility closet with the water heater, water softner, and a big shelving unit full of....stuff. things that can't freeze, like paint, chicken meds, tools I don't want to rust out in the shed, camping gear (now I should get rid of that, reallly, I am too old to be crawling on the ground into a tent), tax records, lightbulbs, cookie tins....you can see why it needs to be organized.

I say go hold the grandbaby!

When you can do it and have a perfectly valid excuse to be in the area, go for it. BUT beware, your daughter will figure out your errand was an excuse someday.

I am going to work outside today, sort of. I need to build more tractor panels and covers, and a new home for Bert Jr and his girls.

I also have to carry the household scraps to the roosters today. My wife pointed out they have been getting short changed on scraps lately. If it was not going to be nicer this weekend I would be working on Turkey roosts. but the high 50's this weekend will make that easy on my fingers.

Morning!

yeah, you are right about the metro area not being really safe either...

adjusting the car seat - it took them about 20 minutes to get the buckles all set when we left the hospital. They were all excited to take the car seat before the baby was born to the local fire station to make sure the base was properly installed Turns out the fire fighters don't do those safety checks any more because they have to attend a class and get trained on the car seat installation. sheesh.

but...the idea that you could just adjust the buckles/straps makes sense to me. I might try that one on them.

Wood stoves have the warmest heat, I think. We have the one at the cabin, it is the only source of heat there. I love it. I like to have a coffee pot on the stove top and a pan of bacon frying. the smell with the burning wood is pure nose candy.

We have no closets in this little old house either. When we added on we made a huge walk in, but the basement is suitable for storage, I need to organize it, but I have so many things to do, that is low on my lists.

What I really need is a place to put all my kitchen gadgets. my wife hates kitchen gadgets, I love them. When you go to a store and see the "as seen on TV" aisle I will be the old fat guy staring at the gadgets drooling. She gets a tad upset when I buy new ones. She is almost right to be, they get used 2-3 times then abandoned to the basement or storage.

ok, well,.....i did a little online research and I guess my daughter is right about no snowsuit with the carseat. apparently you have to pile on the blankets after baby is buckled in.
geesh.
