Minnesota!

I have not had an egg from one of my EEs in at least a month.
me neither!
Minniechickmama, I love the olive egg. I've never had anything but blue or blueish eggs from ees, and I've had them for 8 years. I was hoping an ee x something would work but the hens only gave me white eggs. Petunia, who has an ee mother and an unknown dad, has a big beard and muffs, gives me white eggs. Obviously I know nothing about genetics.

Made a turkey pot pie for dinner last night, best comfort food in the world. Some friends are unexpectedly coming over this afternoon, so I am going to make another one. (trying to avoid having to go to town for the groceries). Sure wish I had some salad greens....

Want to get xmas lights up today, nothing makes me happier than coming home to a little xmas lights on. I like those big old fashioned multi-colored ones and now I have a new porch to put them on instead of a fence line. I don't have any outdoor lighting at all where I live except there is a porch light, but I don't keep that on. So it is very cheery to see the xmas lights.

beautiful stars this morning, and the moonlight is pretty fine too.
Hope everyone's flock is in good healh! (Coffee, how's your girl?)

Good morning all! I came out to head for church this morning and a group of my hens were standing out in the yard balanced on one foot. How funny! We have dubbed this 'flamingo-ing' :)

I've seen the do it before but this was a large group and every single one of them was doing it haha

How is coffee's sick girl doing?

My dumpling's eye keeps getting shut so I have to keep putting a wet towel on it to get it open. Then she cuddles with the DW. Starting to think she holds it shut so she can cuddle with the DW while she dries.

Mini, that is one super green egg. I get some almost turquoise eggs from an EE sometimes. But nothing like that. Very pretty.

Lala, I think I might put up a few things. The DW and I are tired of taking them down. But I think a little Christmas might be good for the soul.

definitely!

I know, I think it is a lot of work to take down and put away. The fun is putting everything out....and every January I think I won't do it the next year. But, then comes another december (darkest month of the year) and solstice, and....I'm wanting the xmas stuff.

The way you get olive eggs is to cross a blue egg rooster (purebred Ameraucana) over a dark brown egg hen (Welsummer or Marans) and the offspring pullets should lay an olive colored egg.
This one, I am quiet certain now came out of either my olive egger who is blue with beard, dewlap and feathered feet or my Blue Cuckoo Marans. I have to wait on the other little black pullet in this pen to see what color she is going to give me. I thought she was a pure Ameraucana, but I am thinking now that she might have been out of a Minorca hen with the Ameraucana daddy. I had a real mix of hens in the Easter Egger pen last season.
