I misread your other post, I guess. If people are ignorant about where their food comes from, of course, they will believe the labels on their food. If they are penned and all they are given is a vegetarian feed, then those labels can be true. However, I will take my birds who do get outside in the warm, no snow weather to eat whatever they can find in addition to their feed. If those birds are contain and likely caged and never get fresh air or out to walkabout, then it really doesn't matter what their feed is, it is no different than any other egg factory farm.

Growing up and showing in 4-H in the county fair that took place just outside of Buffalo NY, where tens of thousands of people passed through, we got to hear the most ridiculous things come out of people's mouths.

I was happy to see this when I opened my seed tray lid today. I planted Sunday and I have big sprouts already!

Pictures are Roma and San Marzano tomatoes coming up. Jalapeño and bell peppers in the back haven't come up yet.

Peppers always take longer to germinate. I have had them not come up for almost 3 weeks before. I use a heat mat under those since they like it warmer. I have even used just a regular heating pad under the trays, set on low. Tomato seeds will last for a long time too, where peppers lose their ability to germinate in a couple of years.
I need to get busy and get my onions going and then I will start the peppers and tomatoes in a couple of weeks. We don't transplant any earlier than mid May. Our earliest planting was May 2nd and we almost lost everything to a late Spring storm. This year may prove to be an odd one for the garden. We shall see.
