Minnesota!

My chickens have dropped major in egg production the last 7+ days. From 8 eggs a day to 3 or 4. My husband is really getting frustrated. I treated them with wazine and corid as per the U's suggestion. They still haven't found any reason why my rooster or hen were sick. Had another two get sick and have been working at getting them better. One is fully recovered so I put her back out and now here's what the next hen sounded like that got it this morning. Any ideas?

Has the Wazine and Corid helped? Are you treating all or just the sick ones? I'm no pro, but I had a few hens get a respiratory hiccup this past winter. Not as severe as your hen, but pretty dang close. There was also an eye irritation floating around. I was like holy ****. I used Tylan 50 once per day and switched injection spots. The eye irritation was easily treated with neosporin and tetracycline. My spare bedroom basically turned into a Chicken ICU. DH was very pleased. Anyways, that helped my girls. I also used VetRx, which is non-medicinal oils. I put that under their wings, lightly over their nostrils and head. I few hens that were just sneezing responded very well to the VetRx.

I always said I'd cull any sick hens, but obviously didn't have the heart to. I believe I had too much moisture in the coop. I made a few changes and all is at 100%. Good luck.

Hi everyone - have ton of posts to read through and will catch up soon!

My brother has been in and out of the hospital in the past two weeks. It's been really tough on the family.

On a happy note - my first hatch from eggs that my own chickens laid will start in the next couple of days.
The JG chicks from a west coast breeder will be arriving very soon as well as my Bielefelder chicks. They will all be around the same age.
Culled two roosters last night after I cough my them trying to mate with ten week old chicks. Such lack of discernment is not acceptable in my flock.
Hope everyone is surviving this shitty weather today.

No. One of the Wyandotte from Cyrus, a Bresse and a Red Star.

What I hate about this is the dog is a really sweet animal. And I know my neighbor will shoot her.

Why doesn't he just keep the dog chained up or at least keep a better eye on it? And I'm sorry to hear about the hens. Never a good feeling.

That is one worry that I have. My driveway is about a quarter mile long after a dead end, but my neighbor has 4 mutt dogs who they don't really have control over. I've never seen the dogs on my property but they roam the cul-de-sac and cornfield adjacent to my house and they don't seem mean, but they certainly seem like theyd enjoy a chicken or two. If that happens, there will be issues for the guilty dogs...

I'm such a softie - I want the neighbors to manage their dog. If it was a mean dog I'd have different thoughts but my daughter plays with their dog.

Total fatalities - 5

Silkie from Cyrus
Black Star from Cyrus
Australorp.

Neighbor is being very good about it. Compensated me monetarily and apologized profusely.
