Minnesota!

She is a Bantam Cochin who was driving me nuts with her incessant brooding. So I figured if you can't beat 'em join 'em.
So I let her hatch a few eggs and there they are! Such a happy mommy.

Summer was crazy busy. So much farm work...

Weird thing happened and still bugs me. I culled my Bielefelder roosters and kept one.
About ten days ago I found him dead in the yard. He looked like he sat down and died. Absolutely no signs of illness or injury, he was feeding with the flock 90 minutes earlier.

My other broody hen abandoned her eggs about 17 days in. I put them in the incubator and two hatched yesterday.

Could I try to sneak them in with Cochin mama? The other chicks are now nine days old.

I'm sorry to hear that Scandia. I guess u could give it a try but idk if she would take them. Good luck on whatever u decide!

You should try putting them under the mama. That will probably work, they are usually accepting of chicks. If not, it stinks brooding just two.

Sorry about your rooster, but I wonder if he got some hardware in him?

With larger animals we put a magnet in them, (they swallow it) and it will allow for no further issues. Is there such thing for chickens? Or are their insides to small to handle such a thing?
