Minnesota!

@scandiafowl I love the selfie with your teenager there! LOL.

Maybe one day here on the Minnesota Thread we should do some selfies...so we know the faces. Who's game? Who's scared?

My mug is plastered on FB, TW, and IG so I'm game. Should we start a specific selfie thread or something?

FYI: it's not bred per se, it's how commercial bread is processed. First there is Roundup in the wheat, second they add 3x the gluten & rise the bread for 15-30 mins., this doesn't give the yeast the time it needs to break down the gluten sufficiently to not cause problems in the digestive tract. Each person has a different tipping point. Long & short of it, if you think bread is making you gain weight, try making your own. The best weight loss comes from eating whole, real foods, healthy gut biome (think fermented foods), meditation/yoga/prayer, fun exercise. Each stage of life and any medical conditions have their own needs to deal with. There is a really good online course through Coursera on Pain & Lifestyle taught by Dr Frickton at the U of M.

I keep chicken as part of my meditation, it just backfired for me. I worry about them regularly.

I totally understand that statement!!!!

Everyone needs an Ethel!

I have a secret to good gardening with chickens. I till around the plants but I do not remove any weeds for about 6 inches either side of the plant. That way the chickens do not scratch the plant to death.

My elderly thought she would "help" me and it drove her crazier than she already is to see weeds near my cukes. So she "weeded" them. Which the chickens took as an invitation to scratch them out of the ground, so they did. I am a little disappointed in my birds, I found my cabbage was loaded with bugs. Their job is to eat the bugs!

The weather must have been bad when I was gone as my plants did not grow a lot and some even died. I need to go buy another 30-40 cabbage pants now or I will not have enough for kraut. We love homemade kraut.

We caught a dog, the white one with an egg in her mouth last night during chicken TV time. She has earned the right to be muzzled again.

I missed Ole when I went to give treats. I hope he is enjoying his new home, It is closer to the Casino and we know how he liked his vices. I feel for the lone hen that went with him. She is going to need a sitz bath daily.

BTW this thread needs MORE pictures.. so post them!!!

Ole is making his presence known -- he has a captive audience when he crows. The peacocks are entranced, the guineas are on full alert, and the cats are like '*** is that and oh crap it's big enough to beat me to death' the dogs howled a few times when he crowed last night.

Looking forward to letting them roam in a few weeks.

Oh we named the hen Lena. So we have Ole and Lena.

Lena is a great name! Overnight a nameless hen has become one of enough importance to get a name. I am glad you did not change Ole's name it would just confuse him.

Cyrus I am preparing a 55 gallon swimming pool for whatever it is. I think it will be a possum. My Elderly mother just told me (10 minutes ago) after al the problems I have had with something killing my birds.... "oh, I kicked a dead possum into the ditch from down by the mailboxes"....

I said " Couldn't you have mentioned that on say...The day you did it?"

"I s'pose but I forgot"

"you forgot during all the discussion we have had about what is killing the birds?"

Well, You know I am old and us old people forget things"

"Have you ever forgotten one of your square dances?"

"no, but they are more important to remember than your chickens are".

This is a glimpse into my life.....sigh
