Nordicacres, sorry to hear of the damage. That sucks! We have learned that staking is a must. We watched too many times as the wind bent new trees right over. It is sad to see them snap.

All of our new trees are just fine. I suppose they are more flexible? It was the bigger, thicker trees that snapped, ugh!

Just caught and killed the raccoon that has killed 13 chicks, 2 rabbits, and 10 baby bunnies. Revenge cause it had babies too.

I love layers- we killed a raccoon that had babies to a while back. It had rippes the head off a cornishX while trying to pull it through a fence.

This one has been outsmarting us for 2 months, and every night our dog chases it out of the yard and fights with it. And finally i decided to put an egg in the trap, and voila a raccoon is there.

We too live in the flat land where the wind seems to blow all the time. The straight line winds were bring so many of the old silver maples down that we had almost all of them taken down. That got rid of our coon for a while. We may still have one or two in the remaining trees, but we haven't seen any. We planted 11 new fruit trees this Spring, but made sure we put them where they do get some protection from direct wind.

Next time try putting marshmallows in the trap, apparently, they can't resist them. I am glad you got her. I did the same thing with at skunk. I think we got all the kits taken care of, thanks to the dogs.

I am disappointed in all of you!


I was just going through my important stuff here on BYC and I noticed it has been over 6 months since I received my last "violation notice" from  BYC for my crude and barnyard language.

Why did none of you have a party for me?  This was a major milestone in my life. I cannot remember any place else I have went for 6 months without uttering a nasty word. 

Money in lieu of gifts would be acceptable at the party..... In case you remember to throw me one.

Sir, I'm more curious about what you said or did to evoke such a reaction.
You seem like auch a pleasant chap...
