well today i went and looked at chickens at a few places and i didn't seem to like any of them and the ones i liked they weren't selling. some looked mostly balded and picked on littler then the others, some looked dirty one place smelled so bad i was trying not to breath but was trying to be polite and look anyways..
I wanted a nice verity and i wanted to get them all at once so they will start out together so i just ordered some,, I placed a order with McMurry i hope they are good. They are supposed to be here on the 10th. I ordered the 4 wk old females...

1 Old Red Stars
1 Old Rhode Island Reds
1 Old Buff Orpingtons
2 Old Araucana/Ameraucana

You have a much better start than I did. I didn't start reading up or join this forum till after I had the chickens. I thought it would be so simple. Not so much without knowing what you're getting into. So glad these folks were here to help me out. Google is a wonderful thing too, of course.

I had the same problem and put in a 1x4 for the lip. It worked for me.

I think I will get one silkie next year. A mini big bird. What colors are there?

Blue is what I have, but black, buff, splash, white, and partridge are pretty common too.

Ive never been to Owatonna but what I do know of Owatonna is your HS mascot is like a dog of some sort? And your school colors were blue and white. I only know this from the state wrestling tournament.
I went to school as South Dakota State with a buddy from there.

The beer looks great, but what is that stuff in the cup on the left? Looks like corn sorghum that went bad.
