Yes they are great and sell quality birds. we only lost as many broiler chicks as we did this spring due to the wild temperature swings this spring. We built a new hover/ohio brooder and we struggling to keep it warm enough at night and cool enough during the day. We learned a ton and will have changes to make to the brooder for the next batch.

Next time I have chicks i'm going to go with Mama heating pad like in this post Looks fantastic!

Speaking of brooders. This is what I am going to be working on this winter. One big door and it has to fit 10 to 400+ chicks at a time with pull out dividers and a power strip in the middle. We r ordering over 400 rainbow rangers next spring. But they only have to stay in there for 1-2 weeks.

Wow that is awesome! I would love to build a brooder like that. It would definitely be easy brood large groups of chicks if you could break them into smaller groups. Would cost a bit to build though

I am the most amazing wood reuser. I am going to make one and it will be near free. Haha no I am going to make for little to nothing. We have so much wood around here I could build a house.

Welcome to the new folks joining in here. @Jen Minnesota I am near you but I don't sell birds. (read: I have an addiction that makes it so I can only acquire birds and not get rid of any. MANY of us here have this same addiction. We are enablers and love to have others join in the bird acquiring!) So far I have only purchased from the hatchery.

Holm.... Holm.... Holm.... I am glad I can laugh when reading about some of the things you do. If you were one of mine it wouldn't be as funny. Didn't you get birds from Minnie? Didn't you use her name when talking with her?? And tapping a rotten egg?? Let's just say you keep me laughing. Thank you.

No I got birds from Triplell. I am going to wait till next spring if she still has cochins and get some chicks. I'm glad I keep u laughing unlike on some threads ( people can be EVIL!!). I will never tap another egg the duck pushes out of her nest!

Oh yeah thought it was Minnie but now you say that I remember you got geese too right around the time you got your birds from Triplell. And yes, I mostly stick with Minnesota folks. Things get misunderstood so easily with just typing and reading and then people get all worked up and really it's not worth the argument. So I stay where I am comfortable where I can understand the accent of the folks I am 'talking' to. And yes that is a good idea if mama doesn't want the egg it's best not to tap it.

I smashed my fudging finger with a cinder block and the edge of the tractor bucket today and it still hurts!! It probably doesn't help I rinsed it in the duck nasty water!! When I realized what I did I called myself stupid since it cut the skin and now I have that jazz in it so I went and rinsed it with soap and water. And now it is uffy and sting when I type.

If u dont want your feelings hurt stay away from the broody hen thread. They were evil!! I did everything wrong to them and yet my hatches were so much better than theirs! But I will just let them be know it alls.

No I don't think poo is the best solution for an injury you are describing.
