???? sweet PDZ ??? if my poop boards is 24 x 72 x 2 inches deep and the pdz comes in 25 lbs bags how many bags will i need. i cant seem to find any in my area and the closet place is an hour away and they only have 4 bags,,,so i was wondering if i need to order bags online but would prefer NOT to pay the high cost of shipping... and I measured my coop today and it is 8 x 5 x 7 ft high,,,and the run is only 5 x 8 ....and NOPE i didn't get my coop finished today Tomorrow for sure,,,But i did get my new driveway



are we allowed to post other things??? or strictly chickens on the norm??? i just thought i would share....

it was quite the night in our little slice of paradise. My DW and MIL were mowing the grass and I was working on the roof of our chicken run. I look down from the ladder and there sits my pooch outside the fence and walking a circle around her is one of my leghorn hens from the other pen! I was amazed and excited that she was just sitting there watching! I then ruined thw moment when I got down from the ladder and went out to try and corral the hen while the dog watched. As I started to sneak up on the hen, my pup followed suit. I stopped her but dang if I didnt set a bad example. I then went and let the rest of the gals out of the other pen to free range and spent the next hour working with both dogs on chicken manners while the parade of hens covered every inch of our homestead.

DW and I also spent a little time picking up windfall apples under the trees. Nothing is ready for our consumption yet, but the chickens love them!

In other new, I have another lead as to which breeds were mixed into my rainbows. I already figured Barred rock, Cornish, and something red but now I suspect there could be buckeye in them! One of the cockerals sprouted one black/green sheened feather in his tail that matches Big Bucks tail.

Finally, wrapped up the night taking the girls for a walk while the sun set. Enjoy!
 
Coffee,, none of us ever, ever,, eveeeer post anything other than chicken poop on here..... except for weekdays and weekends...

Klopklop sounds like a good time was had by all, How did the pup do on the chicken manners? I know with mine the manners are not bad, but I still have to remind them no to run when coming to sit by us during chicken TV hour. They think if they are not chasing them, but just running fast through the middle of the birds it is ok...

It is hard to tell who the daddy rooster is, matter of fact it is hard to tell who the biological Mommy is too.

She is doing pretty well. She is a 1.5 yr old black lab pit mix. Very eager to please and good listener except if she gets into chase mode. She hasnt chase any chickens yet, but you can tell by her posture when she is preparing to pounce/chase (she does it to our other pup all the time) so I know what to watch for to make a correction when she starts. For now corrections include a stern no, making her return to heel position and then making her turn and face away from the chickens.

Our coonhound has shown zero interest in chasing any birds so far. Mostly because she is too lazy :)
 
I grabbed this frame from the video I took when she laid it, she stood here not moving for about 5 minutes, lol "wait, what the h just happened here?" lol cracks me up everytime I watch the video, she just stood there with that surpised look on her face...

Maybe that look is shock that you are interrupting her private moment and taking photos
