Minnesota!

Welcome Meredith, we are a good bunch of chicken geeks here

Ok:

1) Meredith Welcome to BYC and this post..

2) Cyrus, A) Grats to Sis
B) I resent you implying I am good, that kind of poop will ruin 50 years of hard work
C) I am not a geek!

3) Mistablue Thanks for the video, Lena is looking great. so is Ole. It appears Ole has stopped his recreational rape habits, Lena has feathers on her back.

4) Coffee I will PM you to talk about that stuff!

5) BC have a good vacation

6) I know I forgot others to respond too,,

Now for the sorta good news.

I had a BBB doing a full strut in front and along side of me today, I reached down and picked him up. He went from tough guy to cry baby in 2 seconds flat. When he started crying, a young BA that I thought might be a rooster by his red comb came running to his aid and making adult rooster defender noises! He has no tail yet but is not a bad sized guy, I might have a replacement for Ernie. I have my fingers crossed..

I redid all my tractors for the CX's today so they can now free range with the adults. They have not came out yet, But I am sure they will. I use a smaller door on them at this time so the adults cannot get to their grower..

Scandiafowl, I am having a hard time typing. YOUR turkey is in a box next to the putor. He/She does not like being in the box and keeps crawling out into my hands. He/she will be spoiled rotten in a day or two , if you want it. We had coffee with it this morning, my DW had toast and worked on her putor while holding it. I had lunch with it and now we are browsing BYC together.

There is a 50/50 chance she will be spoiled beyond fixing by Saturday, She does not like her incubator.

Welcome Meredith!

I would love to take pictures of the toads. They are doing great...BUT

My evil DW has hidden the memory stick to my camera. It is about 20 years old so it is hard to find a stick for it.

My side of the story is I left it right next to my putor and camera at MY place on the table...

Her side of the story is complete horse pucks....

She claims she never moved it, but admits she "cleaned: up my area" even though it did not need it. She claimed it was upstairs in the "computer room" where it belongs. I went up and looked, IT IS NOT THERE! BTW it does not belong up there, it belongs here next to my putor!

She says if she gets time she will try to find it. She did not say this with much feeling. I think she was just placating me!

I showed her though, I ordered a new one off Amazon! but it was the wrong one. I ordered 2 more today, one has to be right. That will show her!

Why does she have to touch my stuff? I never move her stuff!

She keeps this up and she will owe me alimony!

Bogtown-hope you have a great time camping! Your BLR wyandotte is it hatchery or breeder? I can hardly find any info here on BYC about the blr's. I have read all the threads at least 2 times. Do you have any pictures? I ordered 6 from Mcmurray and I MAYBE have 2 pullets. Trying to get an idea of what they could look like. They are all different especially the ones I think are cockerels. I am really hoping they are good roos I would love to keep some gorgeous eye candy.

Thank you Rhetts. I got her From Minnie--> Hatching egg from a classroom science project in my friend's kindergarten class. I asked for a buckeye and the striped back chick in the brooder and she handed me two hens. What Luck! They are great birds. Large. Her Wyandotte personality seeps through a bit on the roost though. But she's gorgeous.

Mistahbue. I'm so glad it's not Marek's for your birds. Whew. And What rotten luck that those young birds had such a load of parasites as it would kill them. Well I'm sure the rest will have a better life with you. Grab a tube of safegaurd, pull down the wattles or bit of skin under the beak and they'll open their mouths. Insert pea-sized amount of paste to the back of the beak opening. Wrapping the body/wings in a dish towel helps with excessive flapping. Bless their hearts. Repeat wormer in 10 days to get freshly hatched worms. (wormer will not kill the eggs in GI tract)
5) BC have a good vacation
Thanks All! I've given FIL strict instructions to do head count each night...as the last time he chicken sitted was Memorial weekend and I lost my Fern due to her spending the night out of the coop...(I'm thinking) Anyways beggars can't be choosers, I guess. But we can give hints as to how many chickens we're leaving them with I suppose....

Adios!
This Chicken Geek is out for the weekend!

YAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I have a picture here of the soft shell egg we got today and it had something stuck to it. I can only venture guesses as to what the heck it is. Anyone know what I am dealing with here?

And I have been getting oops eggs (yolkless eggs the size of a nickel but they have a regular shell). 3 so far in one week. Was wondering if the oops eggs and the softshells were coming from the same hen. Today I got one of each so it couldn't be the same hen right?
