Minnesota!

just another thought,, what about putting layers of newspaper down on poop board and everyday just rolling up layer and tossing it in compost??? any thoughts???

If you have just a few chickens, why not?

I can't imagine it with my almost 40 poop producers.

I heard from the dealer about my fancy chainsaw today. Husqvarna is sending them even more special tools for testing. I'm starting to think that my saw may have been the first of its kind to break down! Coming up on 2 weeks in the shop...

What about mixing sand and PDZ on the poopboard?
not sure on the mixing but ive read that sand gets cold and holds that temp not sure if the chicks want their bumms to get to cold...but guess how close their roost is to the board

I also have another ponderous story to tell..
I have found my mouse population to be growing in the chicken food shed. Two nights ago I set 4 mouse traps. Yesterday morning I had 2 dead mice, one empty trap, and one missing trap! I rebooted the 3 traps last night.
This morning I have 2 empty traps and the third is missing! What?!? What is going on here!?!

They are baited with peanut butter

must have been a big mouse to make the trap disappear.. sounds like you need a cat in there...

Just want to say anyone taking any advice from me just remember this is my 1st year with chicken and i figure I only know about 3%... 1% for building my own coop,1% for keeping my 8 girls alive (so far) and 1% for attending Ralphies Freezer Day Camp..LOl...
