Good morning klop and ladies. Today I'll run down and check my mil of plastic. It's in the pole shed. I've got about 3 years out of my cut pieces. They're beat up enough now that I'll cut new pieces for the run this year.
Roosts should be lower like at about 18-24 inches off the ground. The birds can break their toes jumping down any higher. ( bigger birds) and a broken toe will freeze off. It's kind of gross. Had it happen. So do lower roosts if you can. The newspaper layers, sand, PDF are all good ideas. You'll find frozen poop a lot easier to deal with than the slimy thawed poop. I lay cut open feed bags under the roosts every night then pull them out and chip off frozen poop into the compost. Pop. Pop. Pop. Right off and the bag is just about as clean as when I first put it under them. Lol.
Thanks coffee for the compliments on the coop. I was fortunate to find the paned glass windows and old door. I think those are probably what brought out the look of the coop. But my favorite part of that coop is scoring the rusted tin roof from my in laws. I was most excited about that when I built it. Lol
Kloppers I think my in laws have a hat like that. They save everything. Isn't it funny the things and crafts that people did?!
Well I better get rolling and let the chickens out.
