As a non-hugger who cringes at every hug, the last page has me stunned and scared.
The list of people I hug is very short.

Why would you want a hug hormone? I would avoid a group of women at all costs if that is the hormone it causes....

After my next rooster cull, I'll be at 5:31. Napoleon doesn't really count, so 4:31.

My two Bresse, Snow and Flake tree sitting with friends.

My two coops are 1:33 and 1:24 ratios. I am not currently worried about fertility but I can definitely say that isn't enough roosters to 'monitor' the girls during free ranging. Each too probably takes a crew of 10 hens or so out foraging and the rest all break into small groups or singles to lay around or range on their own.
Part of me wonders of that is how that eagle/hawk got free lunch, if the hen was out on her own.

I hope to keep back some of my F1 generation roosters from the meat breeding next year (is that the correct term? I'm trying to absorb genetics info) so I am kind of reserving rooster space for that plus adding a roo or two right before winter seems like a bad idea in my mind. Asking for cockfights

I've read threads or heard stories through threads that roosters free ranging with too many hens start to get stressed out. LOL. I can imagine. And I've actually watched Roger with his broodermate Duke (before we culled Duke) take turns keeping an eye on the skies. while Roger took a break and ate. They worked well together as "brothers". Just the girls' backs took a beating.

They rarely fought. Duke a bantam and Rog a standard. They knew their pecking order. Roosters add such a fun dynamic to the flock.

The intent is to get your uterus to squeeze that little bugger out. Soisn't that the effect your are looking for from it? Of course, nothing that we get to balance our hormones is natural, look at insulin. It is either a pork derivative or a chemical compound or something along those line.
As for me, if they ever tell me I should try HRT, I will grow a beard instead.

Of course, you are right, I failed to mention the difference. We would have to give shots to some of the cows back on the farm who just wouldn't let down the milk. about a half a cc of oxy and they would flood the milker. LOL

Babies crying is a wonderful stimulant too. (read with sarcasm!!)

You know, with all the hormones one person can produce and all the variations and how they make people feel or behave, we are one mess of an organism if just one goes out of whack. Even men, I know have those swings. I have especially been mindful of it with our teen boys, it makes them lose their minds temporarily from time to time. My oldest said, I don't even know why I feel this way. So it isn't just the girls, I know that.

Pitocin is a synthetic version of the oxytocin hormone that is found naturally in the body. It works by attaching to oxytocin receptors on the wall of the uterus, causing the uterus to contract by increasing the calcium concentration in the muscle cells.

I found this on a google search.

Oxytocin is released during nursing and is the culprit for finding Mother's passed out in nursing chairs. LOL. It's a relaxing chemical in our bodies for the most part in it's natural state. I never minded getting up in the middle of the night to feed the twins. Kind of a nice quiet time with just us 3. And plus I got a rush of feel good hormones. LOL.

And I'm over here like... TRUCKS! TOOLS! MAN STUFF! TESTOSTERONE!!!

Lol

Edit to add: not meaning to say trucks and tools are ONLY man stuff. I know many of you ladies on here are testament to that!!

pitocin - it is the naturally occurring My first child was turning into hell for me, so I said "Give me the da** epidural!!!" After that, it was the first thing I asked for. LOL
Got to love the epidural
So cute!
pitocin - it is the naturally occurring hormone that causes contractions and let-down of milk ;) It is what gets the motors running to get that baby out. My first child was turning into hell for me, so I said "Give me the da** epidural!!!" After that, it was the first thing I asked for. LOL
oxytocin is the generic name or the hormone that women can produce. Pitocin is the Brand name that they drip into your arm vein and holy hell breaks loose with your uterus. LOL. Large amounts --> hold on Momma! No kidding, I was wishing for death.. Probably why I only had the one kid.

You all have a good day at work..

Mr Engineer. How many people are you having at your gathering of friends? I am just wondering which turkey you want. I was watching the larger BBB yesterday and am thinking of doing him soon.

I wanted a fresh turkey but he is getting so large his knees are starting to look funny, as if they cannot hold his weight. I am probably send him to camp on Sunday. I do not want him to go down. He still gets around and is active, but he is getting huge.

I have never raised a BBB before so I do not know if this would be a problem or not and would rather not take a chance.
I know it is way to many folks. A large one would be a good thing. I was going to come up and do camp and bring Mikes.
