Minorca thread!

Well, I have my first minorcas in probably 30 years, I got five chicks to hatch out of a dozen eggs shipped to me. I have always been a fan of minorcas and the mediterranean class in general, we now have WF Black Spanish and Minorcas to go along with the infinite supply of large cochins, bantam cochins, barred plymouth rocks, rhode island reds and gray toulouse geese.

Hello, I've been reading Storey's guide to raising chickens, and I'm interested in starting out with Buff Minocra's in Florida.(Might be willing to take White if they are easier) If anyone has some in florida please let me know, as I would like to get some chicks in the next month or so, to start a flock. We just bought a house with 2 acres of land and I'm going to have 2 garden/runs I swap each year. (or at least that's the plan) maybe some fruit trees they can pick bugs off of. Also someone else mentioned guinea fowl as good to have around gardens/farms with chickens, please send me a message if you have any info on either of these topics.

Just ordered 15 Buff Minorca from http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com and I got 6 cockrels. I was curious if anyone was interested in them. They are $2 a piece and you can pick them up in Lakeland Fl near July 8th. I believe I can change the order to more hens if you want to pay the extra money. (They are $3 a piece)

Thanks,
Mark

I just received an order of 6 Buff Minorca (female) chicks from McMurray on the 8th. I have been more pleased with their buffs the past few years than I have been with their Black Minorca. Good luck with them. The buffs have been large and vigorous and lay well. I even had one of my hens go broody. I have also been purchasing Minorca from Sand Hill Preservation in Iowa. Maybe look to them for future needs if you want to breed your own birds and want to infuse some new blood.

Would love to see some photos of the buffs you guys got from the mc murrey hatchery. I would never buy chickens from a store like that cause you normally won´t get show quality animals.
