How is the lavender project? I laugh at richards comments because I thought the same when I saw toms buffs. Buff with blue legs is very attractive. I am sure it affects the amout of peppering and black covering but I like slate over white.

Tom- how would you rate the whites you recieved from Sandhill Preservation? What did you do with them?

Brad you should help Tom get a start with Whites from David Moore or the guy in Oregon(Beau McLean?).Tom would be getting much better quality from the beginning ,rather than hatchery small stocks.I suspect most White Minorcas have dominant white rather than recessive white,probably from White Leghorn blood.Any recessive whites out of Black Minorcas would be helpful for size and type.The Lavender project seem to always go slow each year.I have a nice 6 1/2 pound cockerel that is lavender,will be taking him back to big Black split females.I have 3 lavender females,but I may not use them as they are smaller and I need more size yet.

Above I posted one of my favorite Rose comb minorca females. The picture does not do her justice in the leg department but you can see the rectangular body I strive to breed for. I feel a minorca must have a well defined breast to balance out the bird. She is longer legged, but was squatty when I took the picture. I was trying to hurry and take pictures as the sun was setting- They were definatly wanting to go to bed. Below is one of this years SC male birds. I am really impressed with the feathering and rate of gain from the Rademacher single comb strain.

You are correct when you call that a brick type on that female, she is thick! Some very nice looking birds to say the least. Love that tail on the female as well...
I do want to ask Brad, do your females combs get much larger than that female? or is close to the head the usual type for a RC female?
Like I said I have not seen any RC Minorcas before besides pictures so I am on the back end of a learning curve.
