I have a mint plant that grows huge in summer (the bee's love it, makes me happy to see them) I hate seeing so much going to waste, so can my chickens eat it? or can i dry it and put it in their bedding? Its actually Citrus mint and it smells great so i thought if i could put it in their bedding it would make the coop smell a bit fresher. - thanks

I have a bundle of dried herbs hanging in my coop that I give a little tussle every now and then to make the coop smell nice. Mint is a natural insecticide and rodent repellent and perfectly fine to put in the coop and nesting boxes. My flock likes to nibble the fresh leaves as it's growing too.

thank you! now i have a use for it haha. it only gets the occasional leaf plucked for some water.
