Hello My name is Claire. I have only three hens…1 black 1 brown and 1 white. I don't have a roaster and two of my hens have become broody mums the white one and brown one…I felt so sorry for both of them as i could see how desperate they wanted to be mummys. the first time i took their eggs, then after a while i noticed they were not in their house…they had decided to go and hide and lay eggs in so i left them to there own device….I notice the white one would come from where ever she was hiding for food but not the brown hen….to my surprise my brown hen has 3 baby chicks…How this is possible i have know idea as i know a roaster is needed to fertilise the egg. All three of my hens are definatly female.I also live in the countryside….away from other houses, i allow my hens to roam where ever they wish to go….within my garden.I feel totally blessed and happy for them…Another two.

congratulations on your babies. As far as your miracle, is it possible that the hens were already covered by a rooster before you got them (if they are new to you) or perhaps a neighbor has a rooster you didn't know about. (or maybe you have a hidden rooster in your three). However, enjoy your miracles.

X2 these are the three points I was going to mention! These are the only ways. A female can remain fertile for a month after doing the deed. Anyway :welcome It’s great to have you here.
