Miracle Eggs

Baby number 2 born 2:36 am tonight almost 24 hours after baby 1. Was able to lift the lid for pictures since there are no more eggs to hatch. 2 eggs both hatched, I am very impressed.

Moved Mira to the brooder and left baby 2 in the incubator to dry off and get some rest. So impressed that those two eggies hatched so well. I didn't think either of them would and then they both would. I will get some better pictures of them both when baby 2 moves to the brooder.

In the past I have had both happen. Mommas raising babies in the pen and being so cranky no one would dare go near her eggs or babies and also I have had a broody that sat on eggs in the woods. We thought we had lost her but since she was already separated from the flock we put her and the eggs in a brooder and had her hatch there. It depends really on the hen. Michelle was a new mom so I wasn't sure how she would be when she started brooding. Now I know if she wants to raise babies it will need to be out of the coop. Right now though I don't have any extra places to put her since I have babies and juveneilles in all my grow out coops

I like the name Mira very cool. Looks like we might need to think of another name too. When I got home for the evening the other egg was pipped just waiting to see the baby come out.

Yeah I do that to, if the mama is very protective than I will put her in with the rest of the flock but if she has lots of chicks I make her a brooder.
That is soooo cool that both the eggs hatched congratulations on the new babies! :D
I will try to think of another name like that! :)

Two new miracle babies all dried off and ready to play. So happy that they both hatched out!!

Ohhh they are so cute!!
The one is much smaller than the other, is that the newly hatched one??
What about Mona for the other one, it is short for another word in Greek that means one of a kind?!
Can you imagine " Mona and Mira the miracle chicks" haha, you don't have to use those names if you don't want, they are just suggestions. :)

The smaller one was the one that hatched out this morning the other hatched last morning. It always amazes me how much they can grow in just 24 hours lol. I like both the names. Now we just have to wait and see when they fluff out if they are going to be boys or girls hehe.

Hopefully they are both girls, or do you want boys?
I know, Mira looks so much bigger and stronger than Mona!
I can't believe they both hatched on their own! :D

I would rather have girls than boys. I already have a wonderful rooster for them when they grow up. They are both closer to the same size now. They are definitely cute. Can't wait to see what they look like grown up.

Yeah, me to, I always want girls, roosters fight to much with each other...
I bet by tomorrow they will be the same size.
I like the eyeliner on their eyes, a couple of mine have it to. :)
I am thinking of getting some leghorns, do you have any?
I hear they are very good layers.

I have three roosters right now and in general they are okay but they do tend to pick fights with each other on occasion. I just don't want anymore because adding new roosters just adds more headache for me lol.

I don't have any leghorns. I have Silver Gray Dorkings, Brahmas, Cochins, and one Delaware and one Gold Comet. The Gold Comets are a lot like leghorns. They lay a lot of eggs but they lay browns not white. I am trying to breed for both eggs and meat birds so if I do get boys I process them but I keep the girls. So I always hope they are girls so that I don't have to process them lol.

Well I have five roosters...
I want gold comets but they don't have them here in Greece. :/
I don't know what any of my chickens are (breed)! Lol.
