It really shows the contrast between you and your siblings (don't tell them, but your coloring is the prettiest

Hello from Miracle,

It has been a week of surprises. Strange things are happening around here. Yesterday I heard some little peeping noises out in the yard so I went to check it out. There were tiny baby birds in a little wire pen. I had to get close and look at them because I was hoping there was a bird like me in there. There wasn't.

They were all baby chickens. Not even one of them looked like me. I might just let those new birds be part of our flock when they grow up if Little Bit and Rascal agree.

The chicken hens laid eggs all winter and they are still laying them but Mena takes their eggs in the house. Now the guinea hens are laying eggs. They have a nest in the corner of the coop on the floor with 29 eggs in it so far. There is another nest in the chicken boxes with 17 eggs in it. In the mornings the chickens lay their eggs in that box and in the afternoon the guineas lay theirs in the same box. It would be running over on the floor if Mena didn't take out the chicken eggs. Chicken Chicken decided to go broody and sit on those eggs all the time so they would hatch but the guineas were not done laying more eggs in that box. Pearlie Mae wanted to lay an egg in there and Chicken Chicken would't get up. Pearlie May got in there with her and laid an egg beside her. Piebald, her boy friend always gets up there with her just in case she needs help. Some of the other guineas will use the nest next door to Chicken Chicken, but not Pearlie Mae.

With all this egg laying and nesting going on it made me feel like I should be laying an egg too. I got in the nest box with Sweetie just to see what it felt like but I didn't lay an egg. Maybe some day I will. If I do I wonder what it will look like. Would it be small like a guinea's egg or large like a chicken's egg. Would it be brown or would it be blue with little speckles on it. That will be a surprise for another day.

Goodbye

Miracle I just noticed your long, long neck too. Maybe you are part giraffe. I'm just teasing you hon. Next to you, the quineas look hunched over like armadilloes. Look at all the chicks you can mentor. Build an army of them, then the big, older chickens will be afraid to bother you and Rascal and Little Bit.
