Miracle- Hello! guinea/chicken crossbreed

It has been over a week now since Miracle has been gone. While I miss her a lot, I don't think she will ever be really gone from this place. What a learning experience she was! First egg ever hatched here from the first flock of chickens and the first flock of guineas I ever had. God does things for a reason and sometimes the reason isn't apparent at first. Sometimes the reason comes later as the puzzle comes together. That is how it has been for me in my life. What I do understand so far is that Miracle came into my life to teach me something and possibly to share something with someone else.

Yesterday as I was walking past the day lily bed I caught a glimps of something out the corner of my eye. For a split second there I thought I saw Miracle. I had to stop and back up for a better look. It was that real. It turned out to be a rusty plow that I put in there as a garden ornament. Later I was sitting on the back porch talking on the phone and felt something softly brush my leg. It felt just like it did the week before and that time Miracle was under the table brushing against my leg. Of course, this time there was nothing there. So......I said to myself........."Miracle, you are still here, aren't you. You still have something to say, don't you. The puzzle is not complete, is it."

So I'm going to let Miracle tell the story just in case there is something useful in it. Even if the telling of Miracle's stories matters to just one person - it matters.

Hello from Miracle,

Things have changed a lot around here since I have been gone. Little Bit, my little sister, has gone broody! Can you believe that! She has hatched a couple of keets since she has been on the nest. The nest belonged to Pearlie Mae but poor Pearlie Mae had been on it for two months and was really tired. Little Bit took over for her. Wasn't that nice of her.

Pearlie Mae has been having boyfriend troubles. Piebald, her first love, was so good to her on the nest. He came to visit her often during the day and would sit with her and talk to her. Fred, the lavender, started visiting Pearlie Mae too. Then when Pearlie Mae got to leave the nest Fred stole her away from Piebald. Now Piebald and Fred have a race every day to see who will win Pearlei Mae. Piebald usually wins but not always. It is always fun to watch them race with their wings cupped up like clam shells and their feet moving so fast you can't even see them.

Little Toot has lots of feathers now and is almost as big as the other 4 keets. Chicken Chicken has started weaning them away from her. She wants them to find their own food now. They are 4 weeks old and free range with all the other birds. Sometimes they stay by the chickens and sometimes they stay with the guineas. They have two families like I did. Chicken Chicken taught them to go up on the roost. At first they tried to stay really close to her but now they will roost by any of the birds. They act just like little grown ups.

It is a beautiful day and the flowers in my garden are blooming!

Goodbye

horsefeathers already has a book about her chickens adventures out.

I think there should be a compilation book of all the great animal stories told on this site. anyone ever read the Jame Harriot books? All these stories are great and somehow always have a life lesson in them
Someone else can figure out how it all works, but i would like it known that it was my idea first!

I am glad you are still giving updates. Everyone makes my chicken flock seem dull. yeah mind do some things, but never enough to be note worthy....

I am so glad to hear from Miracle again. You are missed, and I am hoping you will continue to let us know what is happening on the farm.

:hugsSo glad Miracle is still telling her story. I do so look forward to the updates of the farm. I think that a book is a wonderful idea! Everyone could put in their stories and/or pictures (as I love to draw most of my farm stories are like a comic book!
