I saw someone on fb say that for the time being they will be using UPS as the USPS distribution centers are being messed around with, I think it was one in Georgia being moved and then the whole trickle down effect of that.Oh and my boxes always came withUP
on each side of the boxes to keep the box upright during shipment.
The USPS has gotten so sloppy and slow these past years, I just don't trust them with chicks or eggs.I saw someone on fb say that for the time being they will be using UPS as the USPS distribution centers are being messed around with, I think it was one in Georgia being moved and then the whole trickle down effect of that.
One more thing to worry about, no thanks! The USPS has gotten so sloppy and slow these past years, I just don't trust them with chicks or eggs.![]()
I would never ship any bird either, no matter how old they were. Pick up only. My local feed store will take chick orders for any breed from Privett Hatchery, I let them order and receive the chicks, I'd be too scared to open the box if it came through the post office to me!One more thing to worry about, no thanks!
I don't have the guts to ship a live bird. I know a lot of people do and of course all the hatcheries, but it just makes me so nervous!
Me too! I'd be so scared to open it up to dead chicksI would never ship any bird either, no matter how old they were. Pick up only. Exactly, dead babies would give me nightmares!Me too! I'd be so scared to open it up to dead chicks
I think a dedicated poultry transporter would be ok, if I wasn't so spooked of bringing in diseases to my flock.
Thank goodness for hatching eggs! It's still a risk but it is definitely lowered, and sanitizing them makes me feel better.Exactly, dead babies would give me nightmares!
Yes there are so many risks with mixing birds anymore, it's probably best to keep a closed flock from here on out, hatching eggs only.
I'm with your hubby on this one, we NEED Fizzy babies!!!!Thank goodness for hatching eggs! It's still a risk but it is definitely lowered, and sanitizing them makes me feel better.
Speaking of hatching eggs, today I will be setting 15 or so from my hubby's mean rooster, I had decided not to set any more but then he was disappointed because he really loved that mean old thing and wanted more chicks to pick from. It just so happens that today is a feed store run over to the town with the wonderful breeder... I'm trading a mess of some sikie eggs for a couple more purebred lf eggs and whatever else she has, up to 20 eggs. Then both Brinsea's will be full again.
Eh-hem, and you're coming over to help with vaccination day right!?!I'm with your hubby on this one, we NEED Fizzy babies!!!! View attachment 3773430Glad hubby is on board too, nice when you have support.Enjoy the egg exchange today, can't wait to see your stuffed incubator! Don't overwork yourself today.
