Welcome!

But look at this!?! I had my partridge and chocolate with a BLUE rooster, how am I getting these light chicks!?!? I was expecting black and blue with maybe a few partridge!

These chicks are from my chocolate hen (the black chicks are layer breeds)

Recessive white would be my first guess, it's pretty commonly carried in Silkies and Silkie-derived breeds like Satins. Definitely update as they fluff out and start getting their wing feathers, though!

So, bad for my SOP dreams and good for the people who have contacted me wanting unique colors 🤣 as I'm telling them I'm heading away from the surprises and going to traditional Black, blue splash etc 🤣

Debbie Debbie Debbie!!!!! What color is this!?!?!?!

I've had two hatch now, the Betsy egg is black and this other one almost has tan chipmunk stripes 😍 please tell all based on these low quality photos through chick fluff and plastic 🤣🤣🤣

I do believe that is a mauve splash pullet, but could be a chocolate splash pullet. The only other option for a chick that light-colored coming from these is if it was a blue splash cockerel but that sure doesn't look blue to me.

I haven't done a count but the majority of the eggs have hatched! We will be doing a vaccinating campaign in about 2 hours to get the oldest chicks out of the incubator and into the brooder, trying to hit that 24 hours and younger rule to vaccinate. The more freshly hatched chicks will be vaccinated tomorrow. We just have to watch that no one is in shrink wrap danger

I'll try to get an update on who has hatched after we vaccinate!
