Lacy passed away this evening
I don't know what happened to her. It was really cold out today so I don't know if that has something to do with it or not.

Flo is 6 months old but hasn't begun to lay yet. She has an unusual Mauve color on the tips of her feathers when the light hits just right. She is a sweet, shy, quiet girl.

Or 16 weeks? looks more like 16 weeks to me.

Black Copper Maran and heritage breeds , usually start to lay at an older age.
And many don’t start laying in winter.

This is our little lame chicken. At 4 months, after her first egg, she lost the ability to walk. With calcium and B complex supplements, plus lots of warm baths, she is back to hobbling around with the rest of the flock. A happy ending to an often sad post here on Backyard Chickens!

Opps! 6 months. Thanks for catching that. I haven't had any eggs for the past 2 weeks. Winter is here!
