My policy as well.
We have been getting a lot of calls from a certain number in Maryland - and they never a left message on the voicemail. I looked them up online and it is the American Diabetes Association. We made a donation in 2004, when diabetic MIL died, in her honor.
When I looked them up online, I was amazed at how many people had had a very negative conversation with them! It rang again this morning, and since I knew who it was this time, I answered. Sure enough it was ADA, and they wanted a donation. I explained that we could not make a donation at this time, and that we would happily contribute when we could once again afford it. I also explained that calling 3-4 times a day and not leaving a message was not a very positive way to solicit donations.
Let's just say that it went downhill from there. I was polite and courteous- the person on the other end was not, living up to the negative online reputation they have been given. As a result, the American Diabetes Association will not be getting any donations from us at all- until their practices change. GREAT cause- but somebody in management needs to do a a re-think on policy!
