One of my showgirls is gone. I just took them outside gave everyone some feed and blueberries. I went in the house for awhile and when I came out Rosie came running from under the deck. My Ruby is no where to be found. I search the whole yard in the fence and out, no sign of her. I'm just heartbroken. I have no idea what happen. There are no feathers in the yard. All the other chickens are here. What could have happen?

I'm sorry

I understand others have had a hen disappear for awile and return with a clutch of babies. I know this might not be your case. I hope she shows up soon for your sake and your other Rosie.

If Rosie was under the deck, that would indicate something was around. I hope you find her. Maybe she is hiding too and will come out

I havn't seen any hawks, but that is what I was thinking. I just can't believe she could be gone like that. Rosie just keeps calling for her.

i had a hawk take a swoop at my chicks i had 5 of them they were like 3 weeks old. luckily i was standing 15 feet away and got there in time. if flew down past my knees and i actually was able to punch it. then i did a head count and saw norman, leeroy, cinnamon, and MR darsey but i couldt find bubba 15 seconds lator i saw him hiding in the long grass. longest 15 seconds of my life i felt so bad. luckily they all made it and it wasnt the last time i saw the hawk either. but a hawk could definatley make a clean meal of a chick

that happened to me once. then i searched the front yard - which i wouldnt think would happen (i really shouldnt be surprised, the reason she was missing is because she got out of her run) and i found a little pile of feathers - no blood just feathers. i cried and felt reallly sad. we have a neighbor who has 8 cats who wander into our yard. anyways - when i was eating dinner my neighbor said that my chicken was under her porch! i asked her what color and she said BLACK??! that meant that my other chickens had gotten out -- but NOOOOO! it was my little americauna chick! (who was missing)

the cat chased her to their yard and she ran under the porch!!
