Last night, like every night I go out to count and check on the chickens, to make sure they all make it inside and haven't been eaten. Yesterday was the 14 week olds first day in with the big flock. after a day of sitting on the roosts to stay out of the way of the big chickens they decided to go to bed.
I went out to count and I came up four short. puzzled I looked around for about fifteen minutes, before calling my mom out to tell were missing some chickens. well she didn't believe so she looked and looked until she finally gave up. right at that moment we here a chick peeping from inside the coop. Hope was restored that they were still alive and well. But now started the funniest game of marco polo ever.
after about 20 minutes of peeps here in there are rooster looks up at the support beam at the top of the coop and goes nuts. Me and my mom simultaneously looked up and saw the four chicks staring down at us, like I suspect they were doing the whole time. thus ending one of the most interesting nights I have ever had in that chicken coop.
