Howdy!
I have a chicken who was found a week ago with her eye shut. It appears to have been pecked out but continues to have this clear drainage. But also she has a congestion/runny nose going on too, she's had 2 doses of antibiotics, is eating and drinking normally too. She's been brought inside and separated from the other chickens living her best life.

My question is, is the drainage from her eye something to worry about? Will it stop? Is that what's causing issues with her nasal too? Would that make her sneeze? She will open her eye but all you see is black and covered by a bubbly mucus that matches what she will blow out of her nose. Also the eye does not bulge out like the other eye. She doesn't seem to be in pain. What should I do? Also there's not a local chicken vet

Sounds like a serious bacterial infection. Is she pooping normally, and Crop emptying overnite? Can someone here advise on proper use of antibiotics, if that seems right for this? Meanwhile, maybe add probiotics to her water, and be sure there is at least 8-10 hours darkness for sleep. Good luck!

Yes, she sleeps in the kitchen on the chair leg, poop is totally normal, crop empties like it should, she is a little on the smaller side compared to her sisters, but I have added a scramble eggs to her dinner (she sits on the couch and eats her egg beside my husband while he eats his dinner too) to see if that will help bulk her up some. She has layer pellets with poultry booster mixed in, along with her own bowl if scratch and meal worms at her convenience 24/7.

What a cute pic! Do you know how old she is? Is she still laying? If not, maybe a flock raiser is right for her stage of life? You might withhold treats for awhile until you know for sure the bubbling is not from thrush/yeast overgrowth in the crop. No distended tummy, i hope?

She is about 5-6 months old, the only new thing to her diet is the scrambled egg, but everything else has been the same for the past couple of months
