Our flock of mostly Russian Orlops have been losing feathers. First, we thought they were molting, but it got worse. So we made a dust box with Sevin dust and dirt. They haven't lost any additional feathers, but the rooster's vent is completely bare and red. Some of the hens are the same way.

I read about Ivomec Eprinex. Should we try that? We haven't seen anything crawling around on them, their egg production has not dropped and they are not off their feed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kathy

If you give a full treatment with the dust, it may take a while for the feathers to come back since the mite or lice damage. I would hold off on further treatment till you see the bugs again. May also keep an eye out for pickers.
