A couple of months ago my chickens when through a molting period, during this time a significant amount of feather loss accrued with one of the chickens, (New Hampshire Red) I didn't think too much about since she was acting fine and it didn't affect her laying performance. Then last month she flew out of the coop and was roaming free
my dog (GSD) started playing with her
chasing her around and stuff
after I stopped it (I didnt think he hurt her at the time) I noticed that the feathers on her back were mostly missing and I could see bare skin! I put her back in the coop and observed her for about an hour
she ruffled her feathers and when on with life as usual
so again I was not concerned. Over the past couple of weeks the skin on her back has turned from pink to a dark color
and the feathers still have not grown back
.should I be concerned? She doesnt seem to be in pain she still runs around the yard and plays still roosts in her favorite spot and her egg laying is normal.
Thoughts?
