Missing girl came home

So pleased to hear your chookies is back home
Last year we visited our daughter in USA for theee weeks and our ‘chicken living’ neighbour was happy to care for our tri of girls whilst we were gone
On return he sadly announced that ‘stripes’ had gone missing on the first day and had not returned
Later that week I went to see my sister and my hubby called with news!
Stripes had been found! In our garden under our honeysuckle bush, sat on a pike of 20eggs!!!
She was not happy to relinquish her hard earned cache but her two ‘sisters’ clucked happily in her return, she looked a little worse for wear but lived another year till a fox made a visit and took off my three girls!

Woke up to another egg today but it almost looked as if it were laid from the roost bar it was directly under. Of course my coop cam was dead and charging inside last night so I didn’t catch who did it. It looks like the same layer, right?? I figured she would do the next one in the box too

So happy you got Betty back!
She may be a Whiting True green. which looks a bit like a production red or other type of red chicken. They lay green eggs.

I’m pretty convinced that you are correct! She fits the bill to a T! Lean, though she eats a ton, docile, white ears, bigger comb than all my girls of the same age, yellow legs and green tinted eggs! Thank you so much, it’s been driving me kinda crazy not knowing

I was looking to get one when I wanted a green egg laying chicken.
Ended up with an olive egger from one of my friends instead. Such a miracle you got your Betty back!

Thank you and agreed! Didn’t think I’d ever see her again and almost wanted a new red chicken but refrained because she was irreplaceable. We also have what we think is an Olive egger, we shall see! And two Easter eggers. I can’t wait to see what everyone else lays!

So much fun to have a colorful egg basket! I’m working on my rainbow basket as well.
Still waiting for eight of my pullets to lay!
