Last night one of my chickens went missing. The night before she was attacked by a small feral cat and 1/3 of her feathers had been plucked out.

I let my hens free range during the day so when I was locking up I realized that she was gone. I got a flashlight and started looking everywhere but couldn’t find her.

I’m so upset. My dad said to just wait until the morning because she’s probably hiding (he said either broody or sleeping elsewhere). The cat came back and tried to go after my hens /again/. THE AUDACITY. And because of covid-19 my sleep schedule is nonexistent so as soon as I heard my chickens start yelling I ran out so fast.

It’s a tiny thing. Bigger than a kitten but definitely smaller than an adult hen. And my girls are THICC. Irrelevant. I just really want her to come home. I’m planning on reinforcing my coop tomorrow and make sure my girls feel safe.

But I feel so helpless since one of them is still out there.. in the cold... probably wet because it rained in my area.... all by herself.

Update: We found her TT

I couldn’t sleep last night, so as soon as Jimin’s VLIVE finished and the sun rose. I went to go let the hens out and while I was doing my walk of maternal shame, my beautiful Pickles started walking towards me ;-;

Tears were shed at our reunion. I gave her treats and let her reunite with all of the other girlies.

My dad said that she probably went somewhere else because she felt unsafe/traumatized after the attack. Poor baby TT
