Missing hen

She didn’t make it. I figured she wouldn’t be left out all night. They found her under a tree attacked by something. I feel so guilty and wish I could turn back time and keep her here.

Sorry for your loss and don't beat yourself up too much we've all learned the predator lesson when raising chickens.

Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately there's risk of free ranging, and since she was new to the set up she might've been slower to react or less aware of where good hiding spots would be if a predator happened by.

I am so so sorry! I know that feeling, and I’m sure many other chicken owners can relate! It’s happened to me more than once! I lost one not too long ago, and I’ve got one sick with a respiratory infection right now that isn’t looking too good. You can’t beat yourself up about it! You just have to accept that you gave that hen a great life! She was pretty old, so she lived a long time! Changing back time would be nice, but there is a time for everything. Unfortunately, we can’t control everything that is going to happen, but we can give our ladies and roos the best lives we can while they are with us, and that’s exactly what you did for your hen!
