Hi there! I'm in SW Missouri as well - just outside of the big town of Mount Vernon.
New here and new to owning chickens as well.
Having a blast with them and look forward to learning all I can about them.
We've got 2 hens and 1 rooster. Been getting eggs each day from one hen. We've decided to let her keep some of the eggs in hopes that she'll sit on them and increase our flock a bit.
Nice to meet you!
Donna

Welcome Donna. I think it's great that you are going to allow your hens to hatch some of their eggs. I'm looking forward to mine getting to the age where they can do the same.

On a side note, I used to live in Southwest Missouri as well. I lived in Springfield before moving over here to the Southeast side of the state about a year ago.

Once again, welcome to the forum.

Hi there! I am in Missouri also. I hail from the huge(

) town of Steelville. Just off of I-44. Most people say "oh yeah, I went floating there one time"!

Anyway, we just got our first two chicks thanks to dd's class project. I have NO clue what they are yet but hopefully will be able to tell soon. They are about 3 weeks old right now and still residing in my dining room:/

Hi there mom2 three ! I too live RIGHT off of I-44 (way TOO close honestly). I don't know where Steelville is though. I'm almost smack-dab between Springfield and Joplin.
Good luck with your new dining guests. lol!

Hi everyone & welcome! Goodness, I haven't checked this post in a while. I had no idea there were so many Missourians close by. That's great! I usually post on the old message board but I'll have to check over here more often. Good luck to everyone with their baby chicks. We are certainly enjoying ours & always wanting more!
