I would like to preface this by saying I'm a duck person not a chicken person. we have a couple of chickens, and went to our local feed store which is usually pretty good about knowing their stuff, and get some interesting breeds. I went in for speckled Sussex and Heritage Rhode Island Reds. I'm not sure what I came out with. They are about 5 weeks old, the two darker ones were a substitute, New Hampshire, because the Rhode Island Reds didn't come in. The dark one I believe is an Ameracauna. The two yellow ones are the ones that were supposed to be speckled Sussex. Again, this is what happens when you send a duck person to buy chickens! I honestly have no idea what they are, but would like to have some sort of general idea. Ideas? Pic of them as babies and now.

I think you likely have two New Hampshire reds. The white ones aren't Cornish X because they would be huge by now. Possibly White Leghorns. I don't think the dark one is a Speckled Sussex but not sure yet. She appears to be smaller than the others.

If that tiny one is a bantam hen, they make excellent mothers to quail, chickens and ducks. Sure sure, their flock won't be huge due to the tiny size of the mama, but bantams have the stubbornness to stick it out 'til chicks are born, and they're generally good mothers all-around. If it's a cockerel, they make excellent roosters too, being much lighter and smaller than the other breeds, they don't tend to tear your girls up as much while mating. I wish my store would accidentally send me home with bantams; they only sell production reds, cornish cross/white leghorns, and easter eggers. I'd give my eye teeth for some bantams, I thoroughly love how they see themselves :D

@Frazzemrat1 and others. 1 pic of each. the redder ones have slightly different feather patterns on their backs and a black bar on the bottom of their wings. I even managed to thwart the 2 cats circling my ankles! Thanks for the help!
