Mister Coco's Hen Harem!

Oh so much has happened with the Harem since last I posted... The girls are getting BIG! Annnd....... we lost two. We lost a RR and a black sex-link... They were killed by our landlords dog.. BUT. we adopted 3 ameraucanas... (but I think they are mixed with something?? IDK.) Those girlie's have been quite busy laying us lots of eggs! We get at least two a day.... (and they are between 2 and 3 years old!) Its amazing the different personality's they have!

Mary Mary quite contrary and Rue!!! (is it just me, or is Rue like REALLY REALLY tiny? Is it normal? She is a brahma...)

Thanks! I need to try to get better pictures of them...

Its sad making.... but... we prepared for it? Though we weren't prepared for the DOG to mistake the birds for chew toys... (Our brahma cuddles with our beagle daily!) We were prepared for coons (there is a family in the neighborhood!) or a predator from the air (our landlord lost his whole flock to a hawk a few years back)... But we have clipped their wings (neither my husband or I thought to do that -.- ) and we raised the fence height.


and we did manage to get some laying hens, which is freaking great!

All in all, we can't be to upset with the landlord. He is really nice, and offered to replace our birds for us (which we did NOT have him do).... we all should have been more cautious.
