Mite infestation

Hello I'll get right to the point I have a mite problem and this is how I have been handling the problem to this point.
Yesterday I got rid of all the pin shavings which were about 4 inches deep. My hubby power washed this inside of coop , and sprayed with permethrin. I kept the chickens out of the coop overnight and dusted each vent area with permethrin
Today i spread new bedding .and believe there are still mites in there also some hens are sleeping outside at nite since this problem started about a week ago So i need your help as to what I should do next and how often can i dust the girls and should I also dust under their wings Thanks for any help you can give me

Hi,

I had a problem with my two ducks having lice. Their necks were nasty looking! They were scratching their necks a lot and the feathers on their necks were clumped together! We called the vet and they gave us some Ivomec in a little syringe. We took the medicine home and poured the Ivomec on their necks. The next day or two it was completely gone!

I agree with the Ivermectin advice. My injured Polish chicken had a massive infestation in her crest and 2 drops (between her shoulders) 4 days apart, dusting with Permethrin and it's gone!

Can you put a dust bath in their coop or run?

Fill a large, low box, tub, or other container with wood ashes or a mix of ashes and dirt. Leave it on the ground for the birds.

They'll dust themselves very effectively and often and the ashes prevent the infestations.

Thanks for your suggestions as soon as i noticed the problem I put an old litter box with wood ash in the run and now irs empty so I'm assuming their using it. but now that the woodstove is cleaned out I'll need to find a place for a fire HUM (I have been wanting a fire pit sounds like a good excuse to me)

Thanks for asking it seems to be going good I can go into coop without scratching birds seem okay. But I'm wondering if the don't still have them because egg production is down. I think as precaution I'm going to dust their butts Of the 8 girls laying 2 are broody and I'm getting 2 to 4 eggs a day I guess there might be other reasons seeing broody hen is in the favorite nesting box
