Mite issues. Help!

I went out this morning my bluebell had poop all down her back end, I checked and sh she. Listers of eggs and riddled with mites, I check them regularly and this has appeared in 2 days. I have sprayed with frontline and covered with diatomaceous earth. The other 2 are fine a couple of mites but nothing like this. What else can I do? I have cut off as many of her underside feathers as I can to remove the mite clusters and poop. Was that ok?

I think you've done a good job so far. The Frontline should eliminate the mites on all the birds within a few days.
